El Camino de Santiago

This is Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Of course, that is the Cathedral.  The Old Town is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The little plaque on the wall with stars is an ancient indication that the owner of that building had insurance. Much classier than our current paper policies, no? I love little details like that.

Finally, that is St. James himself.

You're back!

I think the bad news about the insurance plaque, at least in some places, is that you paid insurance to a fire company. No insurance, no fire fighting.

Funny, I remember hearing the same thing on a city tour out east....I want to say Boston.

I love that quatrilingual sign. I gather it's telling residents that it's against municipal code to dry clothes on one's balcony. This is a high-class neighborhood after all. LOL

Philadelphia has those fire brigade/insurance plaques as well.
