Yesterday afternoon, we took a few hours and drove south to an apple orchard to pick up some apples and check out the leaves.
I think we were a few days early for the leaves, but the apples were right on target.
Bonus points to anyone that recognizes the view.

That's easy - view of the Mississippi from Frontenac State Park!
Looks like my neck of the woods. Mississippi river... but where?? LaCrescent?
Holy cow, you are good. It is the view from one of the lookouts on the Frontenac State Park self guided walk. When we were standing there we debated whether this was the river or Lake Pepin. The Park map says Lake Pepin, but it looks like a river to me. Very nice walk. Very pretty view.
Yes, that was my first thought, too--it was the combination of driving south, apples, and the view of the Mississippi.
BTW "Lake" Pepin really is part of the river.

Beautiful view... what a lovely day! I have no clue... glad someone did.
I used to live in LaCrescent before moving back to Chicago (via Iowa). You all are making me homesick for apples and autumn colors!
